ok, 2nd body paragraph [tone]

Also, Hawthorne continues to have a pitiful tone towards Hester. He mentions that Hester’s elegant character has been wiped away by the Scarlet letter. By doing so, he creates a tone of sympathy for her faded beauty. Hawthorne also contained a doubtful tone to whether Hester will be able to change back to her original self. Words such as “if” and “might” prove his unstable position about her. All of these focus on his tone with some negativity that emphasizes on Hester’s transformation during her time in crisis.
